I am Leaving Japan today... only for a few weeks though...

But I am on my way home, then on to SAN FRANCISCO to attend the try out camps for CheerSF

As about 90% of my old LJ friends know, this is a HUGE step towards fulfilling an old dream!

Thank you everybody for all your support!!

only about a week and a half..

In only a week and a half... and I am going out for queer-cheer.... how COOL IS THAT.

At least they are a charity group and they raise a ton of money for AIDS charities and so on! That to me is a better VICTORY to cheer for than a football game... (GO POKES, hehehehe sorry, I am still a college football geek)

God I love you CheerSF. I cant wait to meet you guys in just a few more weeks!!

(Yes I have learned this dance.... not quite as fast but I am getting there)

Well my dream is ALMOST TRUE

Ok this is for the people who have been on my LJ list since I started.

Particularly Aunty and anybody who has followed her and been under her wing

Anybody who knew me 10 years ago knew I was this crazy tall, overweight, and not to pretty girl who was obsessed with a completely impossible dream to be a cheerleader... of all the crazy things in this world to do, I wanted to fly, stunt, tumble and smile... and do one of the most physically demanding sports ever.

Well fast forward few years and take off about 50 pounds

Now after 3 months of working out nearly everyday here is the result

--run 15K without breaking a sweat
--My muscle mass IS more than my body fat
--I have the smallest waistline since I can remember (maybe 5th/6th grade)
--This becomes my ab workout
3-4 sets of (25 crunches, 10 crunches with legs bent and crossed, 10 crunches with legs straight up, 10 side crunches on each side, 10 bicycles with a 5K weight, 5-10 of my original, slow v-ups (burn burn burn) followed by 1 min plank... and 25 push ups for desert)
--Dance classes 2 times a week

And I have cheerleading tryout camps for the FIRST time in my LIFE in less than 2 weeks!!!

That's right, I am flying from Japan to San Francisco just to attend the try out camps for CheerSF!

Yes, this OLD dream is dusted off, polished off and moving forward for REAL this time!!!

Just goes to show, you should never give up!!! I can't believe I am going to become a cheerleader for real, it is RELLY strange!! and best of all, thanks to all this working out, I am SOOOOO GIRLY now! LOL

oh and me now

~sigh~ I guess one reason I don't post here much anymore is because a lot of my friends stopped writing anything of value and just post their twitter feeds. I remember when they would write entries instead...

On Vox: Alice

Well yesterday I FINALLY saw the Alice movie!  I went with my first lolita friend, Nacco.  OF course i dressed up like alice to see the movie.

As for my thoughts about the movie,  it was exactly as I expected, which was a Tim Burton hack of the original story.  I am not saying that this is  a bad thing, artists do it all the time.  But if i came in expecting to see Lewis Carroll's Alice's adventure in Wonderland, I would have been very disappointed.    It had it's good things and bad things...  Like most alice movies, a lot of it is borrowed from Looking Glass.   In fact you would be hard pressed to find an alice movie which was JUST all Alice, as in the book.  Even the Disney animation of Alice takes things from the looking glass...

I was amused with all the tiny little references which was thrown into it,  the name of Alices father being Charles, from Charles Dodgson, the looking glass insects, etc.

But the overall story was changed just to give Johnny Depp a larger role.  In the book, the Mad hatter only appears two times, at the tea party and the trial.  However, you can't have a Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movie without more of Depp...   If they stuck to the original story, I think a lot of Depp fans would have complained... who knows tho.

But would I call it "Alice in Wonderland?"  probably not.  Something like Return to Wonderland  or just Alice might have been good.  I am sure they struggled with that.

and that is all I have to say about that

Now, I of course wore my sax blue dress from BABY, my black ribbon and stripped tights! But there was a problem.. I ordered the tights my size... or so I thought... when i began walking i noticed the tights began slipping!!!  Next thing I knew i felt they were at my knees and I was soo angry.  I had to stop by the restroom to pull them up.  On the train I wasn't moving, so the tights were ok, but when I started moving again they slipped down!  I cant believe it! they were suppose to be my size!  So I had to go to a 100 yen store and buy safety pins and pin my tights so they would stay UP! this made going to the bathroom an adventure... but oh well

Before the movie an old lady stopped by to tell me how cute I was!  I think I just naturally make a good alice, and everybody was really noticing it

So after the movie, Nacco and I went to Harajyuku because she wanted to do some shopping... Well I ended up buying a cool pocket watch at closet child!  Now that i got it, I am glad I did! it is kind of elegant.

Then some high school boys were being sarcastic/nice enough to say 'Alice in 3d' when they saw me...

Afterwards, we went to Shinjyuku to meet Nacco's husband and 3 year old daughter. Her daughter was sooooo kawaii (she takes after mom)! THe first thing she told me was "I am now 3 years old!" and she must have said it 50 times.  Cute little girl.

anyway, here are some pictures.  First, my Alice coordinate

Next my cool brown dress  from BABY.  I am soooo going to wear this for a concert

On Vox: Concert and session
purikuri with saya

So I had my concert yesterday... I did pretty well :)  Everybody liked it so I guess that is best

as for today, I had my celtic music dojo with Jim... it was the first time in about 2 months which I was able to attend!  Then afterwards we had a session.  I got to see my friends Daunt for the dojo and Carl for the session... so that was good.  Jim was able to reserve a room with a piano, so we were able to have some piano accompaniment, which was a nice touch...

seems like Jim can play the piano too...  what CANT the guy play?  I have seen him play the fiddle, accordion, guitar,  and whistle... and now piano.

anyway, here are some recordings from the session
(of course Live Journal people will have to go to vox to listen)

On Vox: new dress today...

I am soooooo sleepy again!!  But I had to post this before going to bed

I got a new dress from BABY, and this one fits!!

Well, seeing that it was based off me  it had better fit :p  Although they did make the skirt a few cm shorter than the original sample.

This is the new LL size that is NOT yet on the webpage

Now the reason why I got black so that i have something to wear when performing...  So I told myself.  Brown was also cute... and I wanted the pink too, but since I have 3 other pink dresses from baby..

anyway, black is new for me.. but i can wear it at sessions and stuff :)

BTW, I have never had a brand dress fit me so well.  I wish i was tiny so I could wear dresses like this all the time

my room looks so big! it really isn't that big, but it is a wide angle lens..

here is the detail of the sholder

it is really elegant... and noticed the longer shoulder strap for us taller girls..  That was your request which was built into this dress...

and the princess drop on the pocket

and I picked up one of the novelty cups today too

but i will have to show you the picture later... i forgot to resize it and i am sleepy

oh, and my carrot soup!! I made it a few days ago! It was soooo sweet, and I didn't put any sugar in it!  but there is milk and paprika on top..

ok, can I sleep now?

On Vox: let me tell you why...
purikuri with saya
vally

Let me tell you why I am learning to speak French even though I am lolita and should focus on Japanese..

Well, I already speak Japanese already first of all :) My best friend in the whole wide word doesn't speak anything other than Japanese...

Well let me tell you how I started french...

Ok, in english

Why do I learn french?

There is not any reason why I started learning french.  You could say it was simply luck.

In Japan, there are a lot of people who believe that a teacher and the rules of grammar are necessary to learn a language.

I don't think that is correct.

I wanted to try to learn a language without a teacher and without the rules of grammar!

Why french?  I just chose it for one reason or other...  I don't know!

But now, I have a lot of french friends on facebook, and I find it nice to hear lolita girls speaking french :)

Ok, yeah, lolita girls speaking french is so ... KAWAII!!   That should be reason enough...

But i wanted to prove to people that it is possible, and in fact better, to learn a language without teachers and complicated rules of grammar.

With my japanese I spent years trying to using 'the way' to learn  languages.   I took classes, stuck my head in the textbook... which read worse than stereo instructions and was entirely overtly-compicated explanations of Japanese grammar and lacking the language itself.  In fact, when I showed it my japanese friend he said "this is all in english, where is the japanese?"

Lets just say I wasn't going to learn Japanese in a textbook where I needed to use Webster's dictionary of the English language just to try to understand the textbook.   I have no clue what the heck transitive, intransitive, definite, indefinite is...  I just wanted to speak Japanese.

So how did I get my japanese up?

By stopping all classes and textbooks and just working on what i wanted to work on.  I read the goth/lolii bible, I read my friends blogs...  I read my friends group's ultra-liberal newspaper (I can tell you a lot about the dangers of nuclear power in japanese because of it).

So with french I just decided to just learn by listening and reading... and using LingQ and google translate.   I made it simple and enjoyable.  I never worried about talking because I was only interested in understanding at first.

Now i cant wait to go to Paris and Versailles and wear my lolita cloths... and get funny looks  but have the time of my life!  If I do go to Paris, we could have a party :)  anyway, happy language studying...
